Over this weekend, 1st and 2nd April 2017, Sudbury Storms held their Annual Spring Meet, which has been renamed the Robin Deal Memorial Meet.  This is to honour the memory of a long-term friend, volunteer and member of the club and swimming in general, who died quickly from an illness last year.

Whilst sorely missed, Robin was well remembered by our event, which was very well supported by clubs in the area, leading to a full schedule of swimming over the two days.

Sudbury Storms swimmers were out in force also, achieving 177 personal best times out of 210 swims – meaning that 84% of swims were personal bests for our swimmers.  This enabled 23 swimmers to qualify for the Suffolk County Development Meet, with a total of 70 Qualifying times amongst them. This demonstrates that the swimmers commit to training through the year and see wonderful results.

A special trophy was awarded to the top visiting club in honour of Robin, the inaugural presentation going to Colchester Swimming Club for their excellent results through the weekend.

Sudbury Storms will be attending various other meets in order to gain further qualifying times over the next few weeks, but we hope to take a large and strong squad to the Development Meet in June, this year in Ipswich.

Storms’ has Development, Club, County, Regional and Masters squads training at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre Tuesday through Friday and Sunday – further details can be found on or email for further information.
