Last Chance for Counties Sudbury Meet January 7th/8th 2017

Over the first weekend of the New Year, the Last Chance Meet was held at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre by Sudbury and District Swimming Club.

This was an open event and was the last opportunity for swimmers to win a Qualifying time for the Suffolk County Championships 2017.

The weekend was action packed, as over 1,300 swims were completed, with swimmers from clubs all over south Suffolk, as well as visitors from Essex, Cambridgeshire and ever further afield.
As well as Sudbury Storms leading many of the swimmers from all of the clubs through their now famous YMCA Warmup in the water, their swimmers also managed to chalk up a further 26 County Qualifying times.  An incredible effort bearing in mind that they were only in action in December at Newmarket.  Indeed, 25 club swimmers have now achieved 104 qualifying times, an excellent result for a rural development swimming club.

Particularly impressive are Olivia Sherred with 7 qualifications, James Rowley and Emily Knight with 8 each, Caitlin Evans with 9, Zellah Chambers with 10 and Chris Greenhalgh with a maximum qualification of 17 events!

Congratulations to all who took part at the weekend, or achieved County times.  We look forward to seeing everyone in Ipswich at the County Championships in February.
