Squad selection Criteria -
2009
____________________________________________________________________________
In line with the principles of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) the squads will be age related. Apart from those in the transition lane and the Masters, swimmers will now be part of a Junior, Youth or Senior Squad. Within each squad will be Performance Squads. The idea behind separating the individual squads in this fashion is to ensure an appropriate level of training is given to all swimmers whatever their ability.
- Junior Squad – to 12yrs old
- Youth Squad – 13yrs to 16yrs old
- Senior Squad – 17yrs +
CRITERIA FOR CONSIDERATION TO JOIN A PERFORMANCE SQUAD
- Qualified for the East Region Championships (BACGAT or Youth) at a distance greater than 50m OR
- Be within 8% of qualifying for the East Region Championships (BACGAT or Youth) in at least 2 events, at a distance greater than 50m.
Note: Times to be achieved since 1st January 2009 (and 1st October thereafter)
Attainment of the criteria will not automatically ensure your place in a Performance Squad. Quarterly reviews will be undertaken in January, April, July and October.
